The Barbican String Quartet play Webern, Mozart and Brahms – 7 September

Barbican String Quartet

Barbican String Quartet

Webern : Fünf Sätze for String Quartet, Op.5
Mozart : Quartet in A major, K 464
Brahms : Quartet no.3 in B flat major, Op.67

The Barbican Quartet was formed at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and has rapidly achieved recognition as an outstanding young ensemble, winning many awards. (For some of the Barbican Quartet’s forthcoming concerts, follow this link ) They bring us three fine examples of Viennese string quartet writing; one of Mozart’s set of six quartets dedicated to Haydn, a Brahms work known for its conversational style and considerable charm, and an early 20th century work at the transition from late Romanticism to atonality, with concision of thought and spare gestures linked to a wide range of instrumental techniques.

The Barbican Quartet is the winner of the St Martin’s Chamber Music Competition 2018
